Defend yourself RIGHT NOW!!!

Well not RIGHT now…but soon!

Before I was ever into the PUA scene, I was a firearms and tactical instructor.

Guys who don’t know this should check out this blog post- The Warrior Creed and this thread

-On Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs so they can understand my mindset and why I say,

You are not a man if you can not protect yourself, or your loved ones.

For those of you who don’t know, the Supreme Court has ruled that the police have NO duty to protect you.  (horrible case where women called the police for help, never got it and were raped and beaten for hours) that is why people take this topic so seriously.

One of the reasons why I moved back to Arizona was because California made it illegal for me to carry a firearm to defend myself. Nowadays I am always armed, and yet still fashionable! ;)

But what if you don’t have a self defense tool with you when you need it, or just don’t have one at all?

Situations such as-

  • in bed
  • in the shower
  • on the can
  • swimming
  • in an area where they are prohibited, and they check like an airport
  • working UC (UnderCover)
  • etc

Edged Weapon

In a recent Improvised Weapons Class I helped teach some SWAT and UC guys from various local agencies the selection and use of different “weapons of opportunity”. We covered 3 groups in the class-

1. Edged weapon

2. Impact weapons

3. Flexible weapons.

Each student was given a homework assignment to find 1 of each type of improvised weapon in their home. The next day they reported back with what they found and how they would use them.

If I decided to look around for a weapon while I was in the kitchen, I had access to more large knives than I could carry, a cast iron skillet that would make a nasty impact weapon, and a dish towel that I could use to choke or limb control someone with.

If I decided to look around while on the can….I had a lot less options (but still all 3 if you think about it).

So I want all the guys who read this, and on THE BRAVOHOOD, to do this drill with me.

Set your phone or watch alarm for 2:13pm tomorrow (tomorrow from whenever you read this) and as soon as you hear it going off, freeze (unless you are driving) and quickly scan your environment for weapons of opportunity and how you would employ them. Think about if an attack WERE to happen, where would they be coming from. How could you escape..is escape even an option? Would you have to fight your way THRU an exit?

For a 2nd drill, set a countdown timer on your phone for 27 mins after you wake up the following day, and when it goes off do the same drill.

If you want to set a few additional alarms to drill this multiple time= AWESOME. Just spread the times out randomly so they kind of surprise you.

Report back in the comments below and list at least 1 of each type of weapon that you could find when the alarm went off, and details on how you would use it to defend yourself (and others if applicable) and how you would then get to safety.

I will personally respond to each comment with feedback and tips in a few days (after I finish up with my 1on1 this weekend and want you guys to have enough time to try and to report back).

The Warrior Creed

The Warrior Creed

by Robert L. Humphrey

“Wherever I go,
everyone is a little bit safer because I am there.

Wherever I am,
anyone in need has a friend.

Whenever I return home,
everyone is happy I am there.”

————-

Before I got into Pick Up, when I was a firearms and tactical instructor, I put the Warrior Creed on the first page of every training manual I wrote. It resonated with me then, and even more so now.

The first part is what originally clicked. I was teaching survival skills, skills that people would hopefully NEVER need to use, but if they did need them, they would be prepared.

The 2nd part made sense because…..well anyone who knows me in real life, knows how I treat others, and also how I like to keep my good deeds private. :)

The last part, that was always the one that I felt I connected with the least. I wasn’t really close to my family, had a few close friends, but for the most part did my own thing. I could leave town for a week, and nobody would even know I was gone. I can remember thinking, if I died, how many people would even notice or miss me?

After I started my self improvement journey and then got into Pick Up, I learned how to connect with others on a deeper level. For the first time in my life, I actually started to think that people WOULD miss me, and that they would actually be excited to see me when I return.

Now I don’t just think that, I KNOW that!

Such a short and simple adage, which means so much

If each section doesn’t resonate with you-

  • why not?
  • what are you doing to change that?
  • what goals have you set in your life, and are you actively working on reaching them?

One of my recent goals was to eat sushi and drink sake in Japan, and as I prepare to fly there next week, I know that like always, everyone around me is safer, because I am there. No matter where I go, even if I can’t speak the language, I will make friends and have fun.

Lastly, I know that I will be missed and when I return, those I care about will be happy to see me.

-If I don’t fall in love with a Geisha girl or go to war with the Yakuza (sucks for THEM!), I should be back around the middle of the month. I will be checking my email and will get back to any customers as soon as I can throughout, but for much of this trip I will not have access to the internet. Which is exactly what I need :D

How a flashlight could have saved lives at the Batman shooting

so THAT’S why you carry a pocket flashlight and handgun with you when you go to the movies Bravo

I just got home from a 1on1 private lesson, but wanted to share this info with you guys before I went to bed.

I figured a quick youtube vid would cover it faster, so just made this- how a flashlight could have saved lives

Recent post on my forum-

Flashlight saved me from a fight

here a student who watched my 21 Convention speech shares how a flashlight helped him avoid a street fight

My 1hour vid on firearm selection, and additional low-light tips

Bravo- Tactical Self Defense & Firearm Selection Speech

this is the video he watched

And REQUIRED reading- Col John Grossman

On Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs

AMAZING post about proper mindset

Bottom line, a powerful flashlight that you shine into ANYBODY’S eyes will make it almost impossible for them to see.

If they can’t see, they can’t fight!

This would then allow people to escape, or be even more effective with their firearm or other weapon.

I always carry one at night, on airplanes, and in movie theaters.

You are not a man if you can not protect yourself, or your loved ones!- Bravo

-happy to answer any follow up questions in the comment section below

Anderson Silva won because of Steven Seagal

You might remember several months ago I posted a video of Steven Seagal teaching Anderson Silva some Aikido

Looks like Silva is crediting Sensei Seagal with teaching him the kick that knocked out Vitor last night

not sure why he is wearing yellow shooting glasses and is 2 jackets at the UFC, but who am I to question such a legend

JUST ADDED- ANOTHER VIDEO WHERE HE IS SAYING HE GAVE SILVA THE ENTIRE GAMEPLAN JUST BEFORE THE FIGHT AND IT IS EXACTLY WHAT HE DID

here is the original video of him teaching Silva

low front kicks start around the 4.20 mark

I wonder if Joe Rogan could take him…

Joe Rogan teaches GSP the turning side kick

This video was part of a recent Eddie Bravo 10th Planet video.

Joe Rogan had some clips in previous ones showing some of his TKD skills, but in this one he is actually showing GSP, who is a current UFC champ and many consider one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world.

It would be pretty badass to see GSP pull off this move in his next fight!

(and I rolled with Joe Rogan once at 10th Planet, his BJJ is fucking amazing)

Return top

From Bravo-

After a crushing miscarriage and divorce, I started my self improvement journey.

Shortly after, I read THE GAME, became Style's HEAD COACH at his PUA Academy, travelled the world teaching guys how to pick up women, and was written about in his follow up best seller RULES OF THE GAME.

In 2010 it was clear that what I was teaching was MORE than just Pick Up, so I started this site and have helped even more guys, on a deeper level improve their lives.
