Mystery’s Bootcamp vs. Bravo’s PX2

Postby Ice » Fri Apr 06, 2012 9:37 pm

I’ve been meaning to write this post for awhile as it might help some guys out in making a decision on which bootcamp to invest their hard-earned money in to.

Most guys on here don’t know this, but I went to Mystery’s bootcamp two years ago. I was so stoked for it. After recently being dumped and heartbroken at the time, I had just started and finished reading the game: I was going to see where it all started. I thought this was my ticket to being awesome: being the man I wanted to be. So, I went into my LOC, spent thousands of dollars to attend this seminar (more than what I spent on PX2). I didn’t really know what to expect, but it had to be worth it because Style said it was in his book.

I signed up two days before Mystery’s bootcamp and before I knew it, I was on my way to LA as a below AFC. Booked my own flights, hotel, cab ride to hotel was approx $100 each way because there was no shuttle.

I didn’t care at the time because I was thirsty for knowledge, and I just wanted to start a new chapter in my life. I was desperate, lacked confidence, and was begging for someone to teach me how to be better with women.

After registration, we waited for Mystery to arrive in a conference hall (probably 40+ people there). He finally came in with a big entrance, very showy, shock value, applause, everyone was excited, even me. I’m pretty sure I had a doggy bowl look myself. We went through the theories of Mystery Method all day, heard some DHV stories from coaches about their lay’s. Did a couple exercise on body language and vocal tonality. After that, more MM theory and then got ready about to go in-field.

We were assigned into many groups with a few junior coaches. These guys were very young and looked like they just got out of high school and only shopped at West 49. But, wait I asked. I thought I was going in-field with Mystery and his top coaches at least? Oh no, these junior coaches know what they are doing. Mystery and head coaches will be there in the bars with you guys. Don’t worry.

Wtf, okay. Junior coach was going around pumping everyone up to go out and approach. I went to junior coach and asked what opener I should use. He says “You don’t even have an opener yet? Wtf (says in a tone of what’s wrong with you). You were supposed to prepare for this before. How serious are you about this. Can’t help you man sorry. Pick one we gave you and go.” But wait, what do I say after? I don’t get it?

“Ya, I can’t help guys much who don’t come here prepared. You were supposed to prepare before you got here. Just worry about the opener and we’ll go from there. Don’t worry, it’s going to be fine. I gotta help the other guys now, see ya.”

Went in-field with no opener that I could remember, did not have much help from junior coach, in fact I went off an opened a few sets on my own, did ok for my first few times. The rest of the night I had AA and don’t remember seeing much of Mystery, head coaches, or junior coach. This is fucking gay, and I am pathetic. Even mystery won’t help me.

Oh and that night, I saw the same junior coach open a 1 set with a "does this t-shirt make me look gay" as an opener. Looking at the body language, the girl was clearly bored, had no attraction, and wanted him to leave, but he leaned over and dragged the conversation out longer than he needed to, to show us that he can keep a conversation.

[PX2 comparison: I watched Bay open a set with me, saying my psychologist needed me to talk to them, and I ended up getting a three-way makeout and photo to prove it.]

In Day 2 of Mystery's bootcamp, I remember Mystery showing up hours late for his presentation. Not sure how true this is, but there was some talk about him either doing blow or getting out late from railing a girl the night before. His coaches didn't even seem to know where he was and were disorganized. When Mystery presented, I got the sense that he's done this too much, and heart wasn't in it - it was just about the money.

That was the gist of my experience at Mystery’s Bootcamp. A few weeks after, I found out that I could’ve just downloaded a torrent of his DVD for free. It was pretty much identical to what I paid thousands for. The in-field experience was a JOKE that wasn’t worth a Thursday night going out. Do I still stay in touch with any guys/coaches from Mystery’s bootcamp? Fuck no. Did I learn much that I could use in real life? I can’t say that I did.

After all that, I was pretty distained from the pua community in general and thought everything in the Game was an over-glorified marketing scheme to sucker desperate guys in.

There was one good thing I’ve left out so far from attending Mystery’s bootcamp. That is: I actually met Bravo for the first time during a break on Day 1. I recognized Bravo from Stylelife and that he was the executive head coach at the time. I’ve seen some of his videos and material and I was a big fan. I introduced myself and Bravo was very laid back and down-to-earth. He told me about a website he was starting up (Bravohood) but couldn’t go much into it, but could check it out if I wanted to. Bravo mentioned the reason he was here was because he was checking out where it started. I invited him to sit at the table with us and with Bravo being cool, he joined us.

As the coaches were going through the MM material (very theory based), Bravo casually fed me more knowledge and applicable things that he’s done that worked before on girls. Just the few things that he was saying, made it more worth it that I came to LA, rather than the bootcamp itself. It was time for a break, and all the guys were on their own to grab their own lunch. Bravo asked if we’ve checked out the saddle club yet, and suggested we all go there.

As we walked to saddle club, Bravo was sharing so many things that were gold. He was overflowing with so many awesome things for pick-up that I could take back and use, my mind was blown. When we got to the restaurant, Bravo was flirting with the two waitresses and they were flirting back. I was watching Bravo live in-field and I was so amazed. I’ve seen it in the videos, but seeing it live is different. When you see it in-person, you know it’s for real, instead of some PUA editing out hours of video footage that they got blown out from.

I learned more things from my few conversations with Bravo, than I did the entire Mystery’s bootcamp. This is why I applied to PX2 – because I knew if anyone could help me out, it would be Bravo.

You’ve all seen my experience at PX2 and after PX2. If you haven’t:

What I didn’t mention about PX2 was about how it started. When the six of us (PX2 students) walked into the room and met Bravo and the PX2 coaches, it wasn’t showy at all. There was no theatrical walk-in wearing tall fucking poofy hat.

It was BAD ASS from the get-go, all content was GOLD and it was living and breathing straight pick-up the entire time we were there. Bravo, Farmer, Maestro and Bay were with us the ENTIRE time and adding on to each other’s material and giving us their best stuff. The in-field was everything I thought it would be. All the coaches were keeping a close eye on us, and seeing what we’d do, and giving us close feedback.

It wasn’t a 40+ person in-field shit-show. There was no room for high-school junior coaches trying to act big at PX2.This was a team of 4 awesome coaches and 6 students learning from all 4 coaches. It was close-knit, pistons-firing, smooth unit that had each other’s back. It was legit brown belts and Bravo putting all their efforts and energy on building on our sticking points and helping us push though the entire time. Farmer kept checking on me and making sure I was okay with my AA, Maestro kept being in my mind and ensuring I pushed through from AA, and Bay was demonstrating to me what real attraction interactions look like in-person. This was HUGE for my development.

I didn't see too much discussion on the forum about this, but during PX2, Bravo and the coaches actually got sick from something they ate, like REAL sick. But did they let it affect their performance at PX2? Fuck NO. They PUSHED THROUGH and gave us their all.

PX2 was well thought-out and organized the whole way through. Even though any of the coaches could have gotten laid those nights, the coaches didn't lay any girls during PX2 - because it wasn't about them. It was about US, and they all made sure we understood that. They weren't 2-3 hours late to PX2 the next day b/c they were off railing some chick.

Recap: I wasted thousands of my hard-earned dollars on Mystery’s bootcamp, with not much to show for it. I had AA, had low self-esteem, and felt like a lost cause for two years.

2 years later, I made a small investment into myself and went to PX2. 3-6 weeks later, I’m tying girls up, putting my balls in their faces, putting the markers in their ass, and video taping them crawl on all fours with a collars and leash in my apt, and fucking them crazy.

If you were thinking of going to Mystery’s bootcamp, save the $$ and just watch his DVD. It’s the exact same thing. There, I just saved you $4-5k. You can use this money I just saved you, and invest it into Bravo’s coaching calls and he will steer you straight. I highly recommend applying to next project X (if there is one).

Also, most of you see how the guys who went to PX2 bonded and are now BROTHERS for life. We are continuously here for each other, whether about pickup or life in general. We respect and build on our strengths and sticking points together. This is truly more than just about pickup. It’s a brotherhood. How many other PU coaches can say they keep in contact with their students after their seminar can call them brother?

Even? Why even? I think you meant especially? ;)

Farmer and I were talking tonight and you came up Rockstar. The transformation in you was huge as well.

And what other bootcamp can say that every single member of it was getting laid within a week or two after it's completion?

Awesome post man!

To be honest I'd totally forgotten about the guys being under the weather, they couldn't have done more for the six of us. A totally mind blowing experience!

I am definately looking forward to the day that I can make it to a PX. At first I didn't think I could get much out of it because I hang out with Maestro here in Atlanta, but from reading your posts about it, I think every coach has something different to teach. I've seen Maestro and Farmer in field, but I'd really like to see Bravo and Bay and learn what they have to teach. Great post man!

Yeah I think Bravo said he wanted to shit his brains out after that Sushi. Yet he displayed himself as a Duck above the water swimming in the lake.

Good post, I remember at one point I was considering going to another boot camp. Hopefully this shows a good perspective to others so they can make a more informed decision.

@Maestro, just giving you a hard time, wanting to see if you would catch that... Espically you, of course... You helped me so much at Project X2, kind of took me under your wing....It means alot... Even now, you always comment on my posts, we texts back and forth, its obvious you care..... If it wasnt for you, Bravo and the other coaches dont know where I would be.... Probably in the corner of some bar with huge AA.... Project X2 was a game changer for me.... I need to get up to A-town to sarge with you guys soon...
